As part of an $11 million renovation which includes updates to the great hall and The Crawford Hotel, Denver Union Station, at 1701 Wynkoop St., has temporarily closed its swanky upstairs cocktail bar, The Cooper Lounge, with plans to reopen it in late May.
In the meantime, La Caverne Supper Club, a French-inspired pop-up jazz lounge and restaurant, is opening on Thursday, Feb. 8, in the basement, which is called the Lower Level Gallery Bar.
La Caverne, open nightly from 4 p.m. to midnight, will serve three-course dinners for $55 a person with a weekly rotating menu. Online reservations are required beforehand.
The drink program focuses on French wines and old-school cocktails, including a French 75 and Sazerac. Guests can enjoy live jazz performances handpicked by Denver’s award-winning jazz band, LAPOMPE, from 6 to 9 p.m. Thursday through Saturday nights.
The renovations, which come 10 years after Union Station was completely overhauled, include the remodeling of 112 rooms in The Crawford Hotel and the addition of a new lobby space “that is separate from the Great Hall and offers private elevator access to the guest floors,” according to a statement. The station’s meeting and event space are also being redesigned.
Denver Union Station and The Crawford remain open during the renovation.
