Writer-director Vishal Bhardwaj has reviewed Ranbir Kapoor starrer Animal. He claimed to have both ‘enjoyed’ and ‘hated’ the Sandeep Vanga Reddy’s directorial.
Animal, directed by Sandeep Reddy Vanga and starring a star-studded ensemble that included Bobby Deol, Rashmika Mandanna, Anil Kapoor, Triptii Dimri, and Ranbir Kapoor, debuted in theatres in December and became an instant smash. But despite its box office success, the movie drew criticism from reviewers and viewers alike. Its depiction of toxic masculinity and apparent sexism prompted many to criticize it. Director Vishal Bhardwaj has now reviewed the vengeful action-drama. He admitted that he had a love-hate relationship with the movie.

In an interview with Firstpost, Vishal Bhardwaj said, “I have still not made up my mind what to feel about that film. Because I enjoyed it and at the same time I hated it.” The director observed that throughout time, audience preferences had evolved. Animal and other similar films continue to be huge blockbusters and draw sizable audiences. This unexpected success indicates that there is still a sizable market for this sort of material.
He further added, “I think the recent hit film is Animal is all what you are saying is all there. And we have a typical hero too. That’s one of the biggest, hits of all time. People still watch and still want that kind of movie. It’s a big surprise that there is a huge audience for that kind of film as well.”
About Ranbir Kapoor’s Vengeful Action Drama ‘Animal’
Animal, which has a running time of three hours and twenty-one minutes, was directed by Sandeep Reddy Vanga, who is well known for having worked on Shahid Kapoor’s Kabir Singh. Some of the most renowned tracks, include Satranga, Pehle Bhi Main, Papa Meri Jaan, Arjan Vailly, and others. Instant Bollywood recently revealed that Vicky Kaushal will probably be involved in the follow-up to their hugely successful film Animal Park. Although there hasn’t been any formal confirmation as of yet. We believe seeing Vicky and Ranbir’s on-screen conflict would be intriguing. Bobby Deol portrayed the antagonist in the film’s first segment.
Vishal Bhardwaj, meanwhile, released two films as a filmmaker last year. His film Khufiya, which was made available on Netflix, starred Tabu, Wamiqa Gabbi, and Ali Fazal. In the meanwhile, SonyLiv hosted the premiere of his debut web series, Charlie Chopra & The Mystery Of Solang Valley. Starring Wamiqa Gabbi, Priyanshu Painyuli, Naseeruddin Shah, Lara Dutta, Neena Gupta, and Ratna Pathak Shah, it was based on Agatha Christie’s The Sittaford Mystery.
