For many sports fans, baseball games are synonymous with hotdogs. But vegans and vegetarians will have new food options this year when they cheer on the Colorado Rockies.
This week, concessionaire Aramark announced a new food stand it will operate at Coors Field called Better-Off Burgers. The menu offers plant-based burgers and dairy-free milkshakes to accommodate meat-free fans.
“After months of research and testing, the Aramark culinary team has created a unique, vegan menu with a robust flavor profile that mimics the taste and texture of real meat,” chef Richard Grab, director of culinary innovation for Aramark Sports + Entertainment, said in a statement.
While the burger patties aren’t made of meat, it’s unclear from a press release exactly what they are made of. (We emailed Aramak to ask, but haven’t yet heard back.)
Menu items include the Original Burger with vegan cheddar cheese, pickles and “burger sauce”; the Chorizo Burger topped with “chorizo,” vegan smoked gouda, roasted peppers, lettuce and chipotle aioli; and the Medi Burger featuring za’atar, carrot sumac slaw, harissa mayo, olive tapenade, and lettuce.
Milkshakes are made with tahini, oat milk, bananas, dates, and protein powder. They come in two flavors: vanilla and strawberry.
Better-Off Burgers, located in section 115, debuts on Friday, April 5 during the Rockies’ home opener against the Tampa Bay Rays.
