Ukraine attacks Russia’s energy infrastructure with drones – POLITICO

Ukraine launched a series of drone attacks against eight Russian regions overnight, the Defense Ministry in Moscow said on Saturday.

The attacks appeared to target Russia’s energy infrastructure, according to an Associated Press report. An intelligence source told Reuters that long-range strike drones hit three power stations and set a fuel depot on fire. Reuters quoted Russia’s Belgorod governor as saying that two civilians were killed.

Russia’s Defense Ministry said it intercepted and destroyed 50 Ukrainian drones.

Ukraine is struggling to keep the Russian invasion at bay on the battlefield and has been targeting oil refineries in recent months, while also clamoring for more ammunition and crucial air defense systems from the West, as Russia continues to rain down strikes on residential areas in Ukraine.

Kyiv and its Western allies have their eyes firmly fixed on a vote by the U.S. House of Representatives later Saturday which could unlock some $60 billion of American support for Kyiv’s efforts to repel the Russian invasion.
