Old School Method 

Next, Ronica showed how to do the ‘old school’ garlic peeling technique which is best done if using only one garlic bulb.

She said: “Just lay your garlic down, press down with a knife and give it a gentle smack. Once you hear that skin crack, the peel comes off very easily.”

Simply slice a bulb in half using a sharp knife and place both sides flat down on your chopping board. Smash the top of the garlic with the flat side of your skin and it should smoothly remove the skin.

This is the quickest way to peel garlic and also the more traditional method.

Water Method 

Ronica has said the water trick is her number one way of peeling garlic as she learned it as a little girl.

She said: “This last way is actually my favourite way. When I was younger, I had to peel a lot of garlic for family functions.

“All we would do is put garlic in a bowl and soak them in hot water. Let them sit for five to ten minutes, and those skins will come right off.

Simply place a whole unpeeled garlic head into the water and fill a pot halfway with water. Leave it to shimmer and then take the garlic out of the water and gently squeeze the garlic cloves.

They should simply pop out and your freshly peeled garlic is ready for your tasty recipe.
