Grandma’s House brewery closing in Denver

Add another to the list of recent Denver brewery closures.

On Tuesday, the 10-year-old Grandma’s House (1710 South Broadway, Denver) announced it will close at the end of April. In a post on Facebook — made on April 2 so as not to be confused with an April Fool’s Day joke — the quaint microbrewery known for its kitschy aesthetic cited issues with its landlord as the reason that “now is the right time to move on.” (A representative was not immediately reachable for comment.)

“So, what does the future hold for Grandma? She is going to take some much needed time to relax and reflect on her next move, as she isn’t the same lady she was back in 2014, and Denver isn’t exactly the same cowtown it was either,” the post reads. “We’d like to think we offered something a bit different that still has a place in this great city, but if this is in fact the end, it has been an honor and a privilege to serve you beers made with love in the back of this shabby building.”
