Music maestro, AR Rahman and pop singer Taylor Swift were trending on X (formerly known as Twitter) on Wednesday. Swift, who recently released her new album The Tortured Poets Department was given a shoutout from AR Rahman for the same. Rahman wished the American pop star good luck.

Taking to X, AR Rahman wrote, “All the best @taylorswift13 for your latest album #THETORTUEDPOETSDEPARTMENT.” The musical maestro also gave the link to her Spotify page.

Fans were surprised to see AR Rahman’s tweet for Taylor Swift. Swfties and fans of AR Rahman were quick to take to the comment section and in no time, a hashtag about their potential collaboration–ARRahmanxTaylorSwift–began trending on X. While a fan wrote, “Legend recognises legend!” Another fan said, “Which song is your favourite?” Boss! What! Collab and all… is it something new,” read another comment. “I am very serious when I say if this happens INDIAN SWIFTIES will ascend to heaven #ARRahmanXTaylorSwift,” wrote another fan.
On Friday, Spotify announced that “Poets” shattered the record for the platform’s most-streamed album in a single day this year, achieving this milestone in under 12 hours. On its debut day, “Poets” surpassed 313 million streams. To provide context, the second-largest debut ever is Beyonce’s “Cowboy Carter” with 59 million streams.
Meanwhile, fans may wish for Taylor Swift and AR Rahman to come together for a collaboration, reports claim, Rahman is set to collaborate with Hans Zimmer on Nitesh Tiwari’s Ramayana.
