‘I’ve only got one regret in my life’, says the Kray Twins hitman Freddie Foreman as he warns of ‘unfinished business’

THE Kray twin’s former hitman has revealed he has just “one regret” in his life.

Back in the 1960s, Freddie Foreman was known as the Godfather of London, a ruthless criminal who was a key figure in the Krays’ gang, The Firm.

The Krays’ reign – the subject of the 2015 Tom Hardy film Legend – saw the bloodthirsty pair involved in armed robbery, protection rackets and assaults.

At their height they mixed with politicians and celebrities but they were finally snared over the murders of fellow gangsters Jack ‘The Hat’ McVitie and George Cornell.

Firm member Freddie – now 92 – has been linked to countless murders and bouts of violence, and served a total of 16 years in prison for his underworld activities.

Despite his lengthy criminal career he says he has just one regret – working with the Kray twins.

However, he doesn’t dwell on the horror of what he did for them.

Speaking to MailOnline, he said: “It was never petty. It was either getting a pound note or getting revenge on bad deeds that had been done.

“I got involved with them. It was a bad move, but they did help me. They got me that flat.

“I used to go around to their house to their mother, Violet, and have a cup of tea. I took the kids around there to see them.

“She was a lovely woman. She would look after the kids if I had to go out anywhere.

“We got to know the Kray family. There were good times and bad times.”

After a lifetime of crime – Foremen says he still has some unfinished business.

He explained: ‘There is one person who is still a thorn in the side.

“A mouthy b*******. But it’s all over now. I am not going to do something silly.

“I don’t want to give my daughter any aggravation. She’s a diamond.”

Foreman was sentenced to nine years in prison in 1990 for the then-record £7million Security Express heist.

He had been on the run since the heist in 1983 but was snatched by Spanish cops in the Costa Del Sol and taken back to Britain.

The dad-of-three was also convicted of helping the Kray twins dispose of the body of one their victims, Jack “the Hat” McVitie.

McVitie died after he was stabbed by Reggie Kray in 1967.

Foreman explained: “I got ten years for Ginger Marks. They charged me with murder but couldn’t convict me.

“Sometime later they charged me with Jack the Hat, disposing of his body.

“They were determined to put me away. They wanted to life me off.

“They were trying to drag me down with the Twins, but they never had the evidence. I got a nine and a ten. They got the lifes. That was the end of my East End career”
