New Delhi: Union minister Smriti Irani on Wednesday said the Congress leadership fears a loss in Amethi and Rae Bareli, and that’s why there is a delay in announcing candidates for these two seats. Irani was speaking at the Times Now Summit.
Attacking Congress leader Rahul Gandhi, Irani said Amethi is his second choice.
“Rahul Gandhi has already declared his candidature from Wayanad. He has already given a message that Amethi is not their priority. Amethi is the second choice for Rahul Gandhi,” Irani said. “This is for the first time in the history of Indian politics that Congress is taking so much time in announcing a candidate in Amethi and Rae Bareli.” She added that BJP is going to win Amethi irrespective of whosoever becomes the Opposition’s candidate. On Opposition leaders claiming that PM Narendra Modi is scared, Irani said these leaders are themselves scared. “One who is scared of me is saying that Modi is scared of them,” she said.
