X-Men Live To Fight Another Day In Free Comic Book Day Story

Marvel is revealing the X-Men will live on, one way or another, after the current Fall of X. Previews of this year’s Free Comic Book Day offerings show the X-Men joining the vampiric Blood Hunt event. Currently, the mutant superhero team is in the middle of a devastating war with the anti-mutant organization Orchis. Throughout the big event, multiple mutants have been killed, scattered, or gone missing. It will all culminate with the end of the Krakoan Era and the beginning of something new. Now, we will get a taste of what’s to come this May.

For this year’s Free Comic Book Day Marvel is bringing readers a new story with Blood Hunt/X-Men #1. The issue, from writers Jed MacKay and Gail Simone, features art from Sara Pichelli and David Marquez. It also features a cover from Kael Ngu that shows off a dramatic hero and vampire battle. The issue is an important one for X-Men fans as it means the end of the Krakoan Age is not the end of all mutants.

According to an official synopsis of the Free Comic Book Day offering, the long night is finally upon the Marvel Universe. This story shows the first emergence of the vampires from the shadows as they enact their plan to encase the world in darkness. Joining the X-Men for this blood-pumping adventure are the Avengers, Moon Knight, Doctor Strange, and more. Of course, it isn’t really a Marvel vampire story without an appearance from Blade. This Blood Hunt event is sure to change the face of the Marvel Universe in one way or another.

A Hint At What Will Happen

While the official description of the issue does not mention the X-Men specifically, they are clearly involved by title alone. In fact, it does mention that Jubilee will be a part of the adventure. This seemingly answers one big question mark hanging over the Fall of X event. During the beginning of the event/war, the Krakoan resurrection protocols were destroyed. This means that once a mutant dies, they are no longer able to come back. However, Jubilee dies early in the war and yet seems to be back in action for the Free Comic Book Day issue. Of course, this leaves a few more questions than answers, but it does offer some hope for readers.
