A lot of things were expected from Khama Billiat when he made a high-profile switch to Kaizer Chiefs six years ago.
This move made waves around South African football, with many expecting the Zimbabwean to turn Amakhosi’s fortunes.
He left Mamelodi Sundowns at his peak, having won the PSL Player of the Season two years prior.
Billiat’s debut for Chiefs against Downs in the Shell Hilux Cup was impressive, and he was named Man of the Match.
After a promising debut, it looked like the ex-Zimbabwe international would cause havoc when he reunited with Leonardo Castro.

Both he and Castro formed a formidable partnership with Keagan Dolly at Sundowns called ‘CBD’.
Before joining Kaizer Chiefs and Mamelodi Sundowns, Khama Billiat played for Ajax Cape Town.
During his time with the Urban Warriors, he scored 21 goals in over 80 appearances for the Cape outfit.
The attacker’s skills, pace, and eye for goal caught the attention of then-Downs coach Pitso Mosimane. One of Jingles’s big signings was Billiat in 2013 and the playmaker was part of the team that won him the league that season.
Under Mosimane, the Zimbabwean flourished and became one of the league’s best players for over five years.
He won seven trophies with the Brazilians and was named PSL Player of the Year in 2016.

At Sundowns, he was injury-free, had great players around and was a lot younger.
Mosimane’s vision and style suited Khama’s play, which saw him score 43 times in 140 matches.
The playmaker abruptly left Amakhosi before the start of the season but struggled to find a local team before moving back to Zimbabwe.
