PCMark test
The PCMark benchmark test evaluates the time it takes for a smartphone’s battery to drop from 100 percent to under 20 percent. We set the smartphone’s brightness to 80 percent before commencing the benchmark test.
The Realme P1 Pro registered 12 hours 24 minutes on the test, while the Phone (2a) logged 14 hours 13 minutes. The results suggest the Nothing Phone (2a) should offer comparatively better battery life.

Video streaming test
Next, we set both smartphones to stream a 30-minute YouTube at 50 percent brightness and volume level. At the end of the test, the P1 Pro registered a battery drain of 4 percent, in contrast to the 3 percent battery drain of Phone (2a). The Phone (2a) marginally wins the test.

Gaming test
For the gaming test, we played some moderately demanding games including BGMI, Call of Duty: Mobile and Real Racing 3 to gauge the battery drain on each device. After roughly 90 minutes of gaming, both the Realme P1 Pro and Nothing Phone (2a) showcased a cumulative battery drain of 22 percent and an average battery drain of roughly 7 percent each. The gaming test ended in a tie.

Charging speed
Both phones come with 45W fast charging support. The Realme P1 Pro takes about 52 minutes to recharge fully from 20 percent to 100 percent, while the Nothing Phone (2a) takes about 56 minutes to achieve the same. The Realme P1 Pro wins the charging speed test by a very slight margin.

Verdict
The Nothing Phone (2a) is the overall winner in our battery comparison against the Realme P1 Pro. It offers comparatively longer battery life compared to the Realme P1 Pro. The difference, however, is wafer thin, and in day-to-day usage, you’re unlikely to notice such a minimal difference.
In conclusion, if you’re seeking a smartphone that delivers solid battery life, both the Nothing Phone (2a) and the Realme P1 Pro are equally good choices, though the latter is comparatively more affordable.
