Vivo V30e vs Motorola Edge 50 Pro: design
Design-wise, the Motorola Edge 50 Pro has a lot going on for itself. We have a leather back panel, which looks quite elegant and solid to hold in hands. There is a square module on the top-left corner to house triple camera sensors and an LED flash. On the other hand, Vivo V30e has a polycarbonate body and there is a circular camera module on the top-left edge to house the camera sensors and Aura Light ring.
On the front, both phones house a punch-hole cutout, narrow bezels and curved edges to the sides. There is an in-display fingerprint sensor on both phones for security. While the vivo V30e offers an IP64 rating, the Motorola Edge 50 Pro gets an IP68 rating for water and dust resistance.
The Motorola Edge 50 Pro can be purchased in Black Beauty, Luxe Lavender, and Moonlight Pearl colour options. While the Vivo V30e comes in Velvet Red and Silver Blue colours.
Vivo V30e vs Motorola Edge 50 Pro: display
In the display department, the Motorola Edge 50 Pro takes a clear edge, thanks to the higher resolution display. The phone features a 1.5K panel with 21712 X 1220 pixels resolution compared to an FHD+ screen with 2400 X 1080 pixels. There is also a higher 144Hz refresh rate on the Edge 50 Pro compared to 120Hz on the Vivo. This will offer slightly smoother animations and user experience.
While the Vivo V30e gets an AMOLED display, the Motorola Edge 50 Pro offers a pOLED display, which is almost similar but the outer glass is slightly narrow. The Edge 50 Pro also offers a 10-bit panel, which should support more colour palette. There is also Corning Gorilla Glass 5 layer for protection and a higher 2000nits brightness for better outdoor visibility.
Vivo V30e vs Motorola Edge 50 Pro: performance
The Motorola Edge 50 Pro gets a powerful Snapdragon 7 Gen 3 chipset compared to the Snapdragon 6 Gen 1 SoC. This translates to AnTuTu benchmarks as well. The Motorola phone has managed to score 827,231 points while the Vivo could only manage 569,641 points on the same platform.
The significant difference in the score means the performance of the Motorola Edge 50 Pro will be much better. The app opening and closing speeds are quite fast, thanks to LPDDR4x RAM and US 2.2 storage. While Vivo should be able to handle your everyday tasks, there will be stutters in the UI during heavy gaming or resource-intensive tasks.
Vivo V30e vs Motorola Edge 50 Pro: cameras
The Motorola phone offers versatility in the camera department. We get a 50MP primary camera, a 13MP ultra-wide-angle camera, and a 10MP telephoto shooter, which allows users to click zoom photos.
On the other hand, the Vivo V30e has a 50MP primary camera and an 8MP secondary shooter. Both phones come with a 50MP front camera so the selfies should be similar. We will have more to talk about Vivo V30e cameras in our full review.
Vivo V30e vs Motorola Edge 50 Pro: battery, software
The Vivo V30e packs a larger 5,500mAh battery compared to the 4,500mAh battery of the Edge 50 Pro. This means the former will be able to offer prolonged battery life and last longer on any given day. However, Motorola takes back the lead with 50W wireless charging and 68W/125W fast charging support. The Vivo V30e only offers 44W fast charging.
Both phones run on Android 14 OS out of the box. Motorola and Vivo are promising 3 OS updates, which means they will receive updates until Android 17. In terms of software, both phones are well covered.
Verdict
If given a choice between the Motorola Edge 50 Pro and the Vivo V30e, the former gets a big thumbs up from us. The phone offers a better and brighter display with a smoother 144Hz refresh rate, a powerful Snapdragon 7 Gen 3 chipset compared to Snapdragon 6 Gen 1, a versatile camera setup, which includes a 10MP telephoto sensor, and a faster charging speed at 68W or 125W depending on the variant you pick. If you are looking for a well-rounded phone, the Motorola Edge 50 Pro is a great buy in the segment.
