There have been so many festivities of late that it is hard to believe this will be the first New Year’s Eve without any Covid-19 restrictions and will mark the return of the countdown fireworks in Hong Kong after a five-year break.

Whether you are celebrating the arrival of 2024 in style or quietly, we have got you covered.

1. Sevva

Sevva closes in May 2024 and this will be your last chance to party there. The black tie affair will feature a six-course dinner (HK$4,380 or US$560), a glass of Dom Perignon, and a five-piece band.

Moments before midnight, you can head to the terrace to watch the fireworks. The festivities will continue with dancing, late-night supper and dessert.

The restaurant will be serving a six-course set dinner (HK$1,688) featuring wok-fried Australian lobster with lily bulb and kale; and braised abalone, Kanto sea cucumber and garden greens in superior oyster sauce with a glass of G. H. Mumm champagne.

This new modern izakaya – a Japanese pub with food – has an expansive rooftop and offers respite from the street-level crowds.

The special menu on the night, priced at HK$1,080 per person, features dishes such as crisp caramelised pumpkin with almonds and cinnamon; charcoal-grilled octopus with yuzu soy sauce; and a double cheese cheesecake.

Guests holding a New Year’s Eve Countdown ticket, priced at HK$800 per person, will get to celebrate with one of the best Kowloon-side views of Hong Kong’s skyline. Entry includes a complimentary glass of champagne.

While such a premium spot is likely to sell out, tickets may be available for walk-ins from 10pm until the countdown.

10. Aqua Luna

Embark on a spectacular New Year’s Eve Countdown Cruise with Aqua Luna, which will be serving canapés from the Aqua and Hutong restaurants and two refreshing drinks.

Adult tickets are priced at HK$1,488 and those for children aged 4-11 at HK$888. You get to be right on the harbour, in the middle of the fireworks action.

11. The Trilogy

Newly opened Central venue The Trilogy is hosting live Afro house music and performances by the likes of DJ Enoo Napa, Anil Ahuja, Shu Shu and Helen Ting for HK$480 per person.

Doors open from 8pm, and table reservations can be made by emailing the venue. The venue has views of Victoria Harbour, but will be launching its own fireworks.
