Gurucharan Singh, famous for portraying Sodhi in Tarak Mehta Ka Ooltah Chashma, has gone missing. The news shocked the entire internet. According to reports, Singh was last seen on April 22, 2024, at Delhi Airport. A missing report has been filed in Delhi’s Palam, and an investigation is underway. Amid Singh’s disappearance, a report by Amar Ujala revealed that Singh was struggling with financial issues when he came to Mumbai in search of a job.
Arriving in Mumbai burdened with significant debt and devoid of financial assistance, Singh sought opportunity in the city. Six months later, he landed a role in Taarak Mehta Ka Ooltah Chashmah. Singh, widely recognized for his jovial demeanour, bid farewell to Taarak Mehta after several years on the show. This decision came after his 12-year tenure with the sitcom. However, Sodhi temporarily departed and later returned before making the final call to leave the show.
Why Did Gurucharan Singh Leave TMKOC?
According to reports, the actor cited the reason that his father was unwell and required surgery. Hence, in 2020, the actor finally left the show and never returned. After leaving the show, Singh focused more on himself and his family. Later, he shot a film for a brand.
Recent Updates on Gurucharan Singh’s Disappearance
As of now, Delhi Police has registered an FIR in a kidnapping case after Singh’s father filed a report. The first official statement shared by the police read, “On actor Gurucharan Singh aka Roshan Singh Sodhi missing since 22 April, DCP South-west Rohit Meena says, ‘Gurucharan Singh’s family complained with us that he left for Mumbai on 22 April at 8:30 pm. He has been missing since then. We have registered a case and are investigating from multiple angles. We are looking for footage and technical investigation, and we have even found many vital clues… We have registered a case under Section 365 of the IPC… The initial probe involves following his movement according to CCTVs and analyzing corroborative technical evidence. He is seen going with a backpack.‘”
The officials told the media, “His flight was scheduled for 8.30 pm on Monday, but he was seen at a traffic intersection in Palam at around 9.14 pm”. Meanwhile, the cast of TMKOC is yet to respond to the matter.
