Wamiqa Gabbi recently left the fans confused after she claimed she was a part of SS Rajamouli‘s ‘Baahubali‘. However, what she was talking about was the series ‘Baahubali: Before the Beginning‘ which was supposed to be the prequel of the magnum opus.
In an interview with Filmy Gyan, Wamiqa shared that she was training for ‘Baahubali’ but the project never took off.According to her, the directors kept changing. And she was still there training in sword fighting. She added that she kept asking if the director had been finalised. However, the makers eventually shut down the project. Wamiqa concluded by saying that she hopes it restarts again.

The actor played a role in the Netflix project titled ‘Baahubali: Before the Beginning,’ an adaptation based on the novels ‘The Rise of Sivagami,’ ‘Chaturanga,’ and ‘Queen of Mahishmathi.’ This series was intended to serve as a prequel to ‘Baahubali,’ with a primary focus on the character Sivagami, portrayed by Ramya Krishnan.

Initially, Mrunal Thakur was cast for a role that eventually went to Wamiqa. Deva Katta and Praveen Sattaru were slated to direct the project in 2018. However, in 2021, Netflix reportedly decided to scrap the version that had been shot and expressed plans to revamp it in the future. Kunal Deshmukh was brought in as the director, but he later opted out of the project.
