Waitrose recalled its Salted Dairy Butter because it could contain “pieces of blue cloth”. The possible presence of blue cloth makes the product unsafe to eat, Waitrose explained.
The supermarket issued a statement saying: “Important safety warning: Do not consume. Package up item. Return the product to your local Waitrose & Partners branch for a refund.
“We apologise that it has been necessary to recall this product and for the inconvenience caused.”
The Food Standards Agency advised: “If you have bought the above product do not eat it. Instead, return the product to your local Waitrose branch for a refund.
“Any customers with queries or concerns can contact the Waitrose careline team for further guidance on 0800 188 884 Option four.”

Waitrose also recalled the Waitrose Pitted Spanish Queen Olives due to health fears they could “contain pieces of glass” which makes the product unsafe to eat.
Supermarket Asda recently issued an urgent food warning and recalled its Asda Succulent Cooked & Peeled King Prawns because of a labelling error “which shows an incorrect use-by date”.
Asda urged customers to return the item to the store for a full refund or contact Asda Customer services on 0800 952 0101.
