Vidyasagar Maharaj Death: Jain seer Acharya Vidyasagar passes away; PM Modi and other leaders offer their condolences

Known as one of the greatest Jain seer, Acharya Vidyasagar Maharaj, the present Mahavir of the Jain community passed away in Dongargarh, Chhattisgarh, three days after he began the process of Samadhi and gave up food and water. He had also taken a Maun Vrat that is a vow to not speak. The official note said that the Acharya attained samadi at around 2:35 am on February 18.

The Jain seer was born on 10 October 1946 on the day of Sharad Purnima in Sadalga in Belgaum district of Karnataka.

PM Modi pays tribute:

Before state assembly elections in Chhattisgarh, Prime Minister Narendra Modi visited Dongargarh, a popular pilgrimage spot, in Chhattisgarh’s Rajnandagon district to meet Jain seer Acharya Vidyasagar Maharaj. After the announcement of Jain seer passing away, PM Modi paid his honours to the seer.

“My thoughts and prayers are with the countless devotees of Acharya Shri 108 Vidhyasagar Ji Maharaj Ji. He will be remembered by the coming generations for his invaluable contributions to society, especially his efforts towards spiritual awakening among people, his work towards poverty alleviation, healthcare, education and more. I had the honour of receiving his blessings for years. I can never forget my visit to the Chandragiri Jain Mandir in Dongargarh, Chhattisgarh late last year. That time, I had spent time with Acharya Shri 108 Vidhyasagar Ji Maharaj Ji and also received his blessings,” said PM Modi in his post.

Leaders remember Acharya Vidyasagar:Digvijaya Singh: Former Chief Minister of Madhya Pradesh paid his tributes to the Jain on his social media account on X. “Was a saint in the form of God,” said Singh in his post.

Shivraj Singh Chouhan: “The news of the sad demise of national saint Acharya Shri Vidyasagar Ji Maharaj is shocking and speechless to the entire world. Acharya Shri had a deep influence in my life, most of his life was spent in the land of Madhya Pradesh and I got a lot of blessings from him,” said Chouhan in the caption of the post he uploaded in tribute to the seer. He added that Acharya Vidyasagar’s blessings provided immense peace and infinite energy.

Gyaneshwar Patil: BJP leader joined the list and paid tributes to the Jain seer on his social media account on ‘X.’

Pradhuman Singh Tomar: Energy Minister of Madhya Pradesh paid honour to the Jain seer using his social media account. “The sun of Acharya Shri Ji’s spiritual consciousness will continue to illuminate the minds of the Indian society for ages…” said Tomar through his post.
