Victoria Beckham Nods to Helmut Newton and Christmas for Resort 2025

“I’m very glad to be back in my heels,” Victoria Beckham said in a preview interview while introducing her favorite cruise collection to date.

The British designer broke her foot at the gym a few months ago but is now preparing to strut and dance into the Christmas party season with razor sharp tailoring, fluid slipdresses, Grecian draping and seductive lace.

For her cruise lineup, Beckham was thinking about the season and the questions her customers are asking themselves — the same questions she finds herself pondering too.

“For me, during that time of the year, I want to wear a tuxedo if I’m going to a holiday party,” said Beckham, explaining that she designs for herself and the women who shop at her brand.

She turned the classic white dress shirt into a bib with a collar that unveiled a slither of skin modeled by Libby Bennett, striking a resemblance to the androgynous models used in Helmut Newton’s work.

Beckham added features of gentleman’s loungewear to the tailoring, the lapel in a silk fabric and loose ties around the waist as a nod to a robe.

There was plenty of color, too, including mint green, baby blue, shiny caramel, rich purple and light lavender. Light knitwear, a growing category for the business, was subtly layered under the bomber or denim jackets.

“Prior to the beginning of my brand, I really had a strong point of view [on color],” Beckham said.

Those same hues on the clothes are being translated onto the handbags, including an evening clutch, a crossbody and large tote. The handbag arm of the business has been recently relaunched with a whole new team and a rigorous strategy.

“The bags have done phenomenally well, especially the bag with the B frame that are also on the belts,” Beckham said.

The collection also touched on elements of lingerie with open cut backs, bare shoulders and sheer black lace that made for a classic Christmas party dress.

Earlier this month, the designer’s brand made its Met Gala debut as “Bridgerton” actor Phoebe Dynevor wore one of her delicate designs inspired by Beckham’s 50th wedding dress.

“It’s about balance — it’s about the dress being elegant, but also very sexy at the same time,” she explained, detailing that the dress was made in a week and that, up until now, having one of her designs represented at the Met Gala was more of a dream than a reality.
