‘Unreal’ air fryer pizza toastie recipe ‘you’re missing out on’

Bored of Lunch’s Nate Anthony has shared a super simple lunch idea combining two popular dishes: toasties and pizza.

He shared his take on a pizza toastie, packed with cheese, pepperoni and Italian herbs in a TikTok last week.

The recipe is so good that Nate claimed if you haven’t had one “you’re probably missing out”.

If pizza bagels are on your radar, these aren’t too dissimilar.

Nate captioned his video: “If you’ve not had a pizza Toastie then you’re probably missing out, so easy to make. I usually make pizza bagels but this is a nice change.”

Air fryer fans are in luck because Nate’s recipe is perfect for the gadget. The recipe takes all of seven minutes to rustle up.

He said: “In my opinion, an air fryer pizza toastie is one of the most elite things you can have at lunch, they’re so easy.”

Although Nate’s recipe includes pepperoni, you don’t have to stick with it.

Instead swap out for your choice of veggies or other non-meat toppings.

Nate’s video has already been viewed over two million times, receiving 57,700 likes and 282 comments.

He received praise, as well as having a few people suggesting their own takes on the recipe.

Dallas suggested: “I make mini pizzas with was naan bread they are bomb. I don’t like buns or bread cause the sauce soaks into them too much so you have to use quite a lot but not as much with naan.”

One person wrote, “This is getting made tomorrow,” while Fran said, “I make these all the time!”

So if you’re looking for something quick and easy to rustle up for lunch for yourselves or little ones, this is what you’ll need.

Air fryer Pizza Toastie

Ingredients

  • 2 slices of bread
  • Cheddar or mozzarella
  • Pepperoni
  • Few tbsp pizza sauce or passata
  • 1 tbsp tomato purée
  • 1/2 tsp garlic optional
  • 1 tsp Italian dry herbs

Method

Mix the pizza sauce, garlic and herbs spread over the bread. Top with the cheese and pepperoni.

To stop the pepperoni blowing off use cocktail sticks to keep them in place.

Cook in the air fryer for around seven minutes or so at 180℃. Serve and enjoy!
