Turkish city dubbed ‘new Ibiza’ thanks to cheaper hotels and food | Travel News | Travel

Summer is just around the corner which can only mean one thing it is time to book a holiday.

The list of places to go and visit this year is endless. One place has caught our attention being dubbed the “new Ibiza.”
The place in question of course is Bodrum in Turkey thanks to its cheaper beers, food and accommodation than the original party place in Spain.

For those asking a pint of beer will set you back £2.24. This is compared to Ibiza where it is nearly double the price at £4.24, according to PintPrice.

Elsewhere, an average 4-star hotel will cost you £59 per night in Bodrum, while Ibiza prices are a staggering £140 per night.

Of course, food is always on our minds when it comes to trying new cuisines and dishes so a three-course meal for two will set you back £11.77 in the Turkish city.

Meanwhile, wait for it in Ibiza a three-course meal for two will cost you £68.24, according to Hiker’s Bay.

So Bodrum is looking like a great place to go, right but what is there to do?

Things to do in Bodrum

While the Turkish city certainly knows how to throw a party they also have stunning beaches as well as bars and clubs.

If you’re after something a bit more chilled they also have fantastic restaurants, great history and traditional Bazaars.

For those who want to get their culture fix visit Bodrum Castle or the ancient Bodrum Amphitheatre.

Let’s not forget the mausoleum at Halicarnassus too which dates back to 350 BC.

If there’s one thing we know about Turkey is that it’s great for shopping you can find almost anything in the Bazaars such as spices, clothes and trinkets for your home.

OK, we’re sold. How do we get there?

Of course, the quickest way to get to the Turkish city is to fly. Flights to direct Bodrum take four hours from London Luton and London Stansted. Meanwhile, you can also take a direct flight from Manchester Airport.

The best time to visit Bodrum

April, May, September and October have the mildest of temperatures reaching an average of 22C.

But if you’re looking for more heat then visit in the peak summer months of months June, July and August when it reaches around 35C.
