TUI makes major change to luggage allowance rules | Travel News | Travel

TUI has updated its luggage rules as nearly half of us Britons can’t resist taking our favourite teabags on holiday, according to The Mirror.

We love our cuppas so much that almost 49 percent of us pack our preferred tea brand for trips abroad, making it the top home comfort item in a recent poll.

Even though coffee is loved worldwide, about 38 percent of us won’t leave the UK without our favourite flavours.

Plus, over a third of British holidaymakers can’t bear to part with their cosy slippers when they’re away.

It seems we Brits aren’t too adventurous with food either, with ketchup (16 percent), sliced bread (15 percent), cheese and onion crisps (10 percent) and even Pot Noodle (10 percent) listed as travel essentials.

The survey by TUI also revealed that 56 percent of us feel homesick on holiday, with 32 percent confessing they pack all sorts of items because they enjoy their creature comforts.

Maybe that’s why one in 10 of us take our childhood teddy bear on the plane, with the same number ensuring their hot water bottle tags along.

Phillip Iveson, the big boss at TUI, shared: “This research shows just how much Britons love to take home comforts on holiday with them.

“That’s why we’ve decided to increase our luggage allowance for TUI Airways to 20kg as standard, and add an extra 5kg for guests staying at TUI BLUE, Holiday Village and A La Carte hotels.

“With all that extra weight to play around with, guests will have plenty of room to take along photos of their pets, a hearty number of teabags, and even a loaf or two of sliced bread.”

The survey found out that we usually start packing five days before our holiday begins, and 26 percent of us pack too much just to be safe.

Even though we plan ahead, we still forget about two important things each trip, like travel adaptors, phone chargers, and toothbrushes they’re the top three things we leave behind.
