Trevor Lawrence’s wife, Marissa, praises ‘tough cookie’ after injury

Trevor Lawrence’s wife, Marissa, seems thrilled to see the Jaguars quarterback back at practice, days after he sustained a high-ankle sprain in the team’s 34-31 overtime loss to the Bengals on “Monday Night Football.”

Marissa, who has been married to Lawrence since April 2021, reposted a video from the Jaguars’ official Instagram account that featured the former first-overall pick back at practice on Thursday.

“Tough [cookie],” she wrote in her caption, using a cookie emoji.

In other social media videos shared by the Jaguars and reporters, the 24-year-old Lawrence can be seen throwing the ball and appearing to move well on dropbacks.

Earlier this week, Marissa thanked fans for their support after Lawrence suffered the injury late in the fourth quarter of Monday’s game.

Upon being helped to his feet by Bengals defensive end Trey Hendrickson, Lawrence attempted to walk off the field under his own power but dropped to the turf at EverBank Stadium in Jacksonville.

Lawrence then banged the turf with his wrist before the training staff, along with Jaguars head coach Doug Pederson, helped him return to the sidelines and into the tunnel for evaluation.

He did not return to the game.

Backup quarterback C.J. Beathard relieved Lawrence and completed 9 of 10 passes for 63 yards.

Lawrence left the Jaguars’ home stadium in a walking boot and on crutches.

Although Lawrence did not practice Wednesday, he discussed the injury in a press conference, where he was not wearing a walking boot.

“I’m thankful it’s not a worse injury than what I thought on the field,” Lawrence said, adding he felt “a lot better” given the immediate pain of the injury.

Lawrence has never missed a game in his three-year NFL career.

“If I can be out there and be myself for the most part, then I’m going to be out there,” he said.

It’s unclear if Lawrence will be available for Sunday’s game against the Cleveland Browns.

The Jaguars (8-4) lead the AFC South by one game over the Colts and Texans.
