Top 7 games releasing in May 2024

The month of May tends to be a mixed bag. Take last year for example. We saw some fantastic releases in the form of Legend of Zelda: Tears of the Kingdom and Hogwarts Legacy. On the other hand, we also got some duds like Redfall and Lord of the Rings: Gollum. But one thing is certain: all these games are certainly memorable.

May 2024 will see a bunch of new and interesting titles such as F1 24 and Senua’s Saga: Hellblade 2, as well as a few remasters such as Braid: Anniversary Edition and Paper Mario: The Thousand-Year Door. So let’s get started.

Braid: Anniversary Edition

Release date: May 14th (May 15th for Xbox)

First released back in 2008, Braid: Anniversary Editon offers improved graphics, smoother animation and better sound. However, the rest of the game promises to be the same. It will see players on a quest to save a princess from an evil monster. While this premise may seem extremely cliche, Braid does things quite differently. First off, is the gorgeous, hand-drawn artwork that gives the game a very distinctive look. Then there are the time manipulation powers as well as a twist ending that will leave you questioning the meaning of being a ‘hero’.

Senua’s Saga: Hellblade 2

Platform: PC, Xbox Series X/S

Release date: May 24th

Senua’s Saga: Hellblade II is a sequel that has some large shoes to fill. The first game was praised for its excellent story and the wonderful representation of mental issues. The sequel promises to build upon this. So players can expect things such as permadeath, and runes for advancement as well as the gameplay elements related to Senua’s mental state. However, the fighting system is set to be overhauled with a deeper story that goes more into Norse mythology.

Homeworld 3

Platform: PC

You would be forgiven for not being familiar with the Homeworld series of real-time strategy games. After all, the last mainline game in the series was launched way back in 2003. So there are over two decades of anticipation that the developers need to make up for. The series is set in space and allows players to move units in three dimensions instead of just two. Aside from the classic gameplay, Homeworld 3 can also feature a new co-op mode that will introduce roguelike elements to the gameplay.

Paper Mario: The Thousand-Year Door
