Then you’ll definitely want to know which airport has the best prices for a pint or a cocktail.

After all you don’t want to be splashing out all your spending money before you even arrive do you?

Thankfully luxury travel club Velloy has created the ‘Airport Pint and Prosecco Index’, listing the most expensive pint and glass of bubbly as well as the cheapest and the best and worst rated.

And it turns out you can sink a pint with a smug smile that you’re saving your pennies at Glasgow Airport.

It not only has the lowest average cost of a pint airside, coming in at £6.06 against an airport average of £6.75, it’s also home to the cheapest pint costing just £4.79 at Tennent’s Pier Bar.

Edinburgh did not too bad either, with an average cost of £6.61 a pint.

In comparison, London Pride By Fullers at Heathrow was found to be the most expensive place for a pint, with the average draught pint costing £10.05.

Heathrow’s Star Light is home to the cheapest prosecco, at £6.20, a massive £3.39 saving on the average price for a glass of fizz across the UK’s airports.

But it also sells the most expensive prosecco at Gordon Ramsay Plane Food venue where it will set you back a whopping £12.50 a glass.

Glasgow came 7th on the fizz list, with a glass at £9.33 beaten by Edinburgh which has prosecco for an average of £8.88.

The research also revealed that Manchester airport is the worst airport for price increases post security, with the northern airport charging travellers 15 per cent more for a pint, and seven per cent more for a glass of prosecco, once they go airside.

Glasgow Airport was found to boast the highest average ratings on Google Reviews, with 4.5 out of 5.

Pubs and bars at Manchester as well as at London Stansted, were the worst-rated airports for pre-flight drinks on Google Reviews gaining an average of just 3.6.

Even if you need to drive at your holiday destination, it doesn’t mean you need to miss out, as the majority (71 per cent) of establishments across all airports offer an alcohol-free pint option, but if fizz is your fancy then you’re not so lucky as only seven per cent of airport bars sell an alcohol-free glass.

Hugo Cannon, founder of Velloy, said: “For many, there’s no better way to start a holiday than a pint at the airport or a glass of prosecco to get that “going away” feeling started.

“As a British holiday staple, we were keen to discover which airports are home to the cheapest and best pre-flight drinks, and what better guide for travellers than an index revealing where they can find the most affordable and best-rated drinks?”
