Teen Titans: Starfire Gets Delay From DC

Fans eager to get their hands on the upcoming Teen Titans: Starfire will have to wait a bit longer. DC Comics has delayed the release of the Kami Garcia and Gabriel Picolo book from July to November. This means that all orders placed from comic stores and bookstores (even Amazon) have been cancelled. Instead, new orders will be available closer to the new release date. This is a pretty big delay for a book and DC is currently keeping quiet on the reason behind the delay.

Teen Titans: Starfire is the fifth installment in Garcia and Picolo’s Teen Titans series. DC announced the Starfire entry early 2023 and the creators immediately began to get people hyped for the project. At the time, Garcia teased that this book is really fun as Starfire feels more like an origin story because she doesn’t know the other Titans yet. The plasma-producing alien is on her own and dealing with these new powers. Plus, if you read the previous installment, Teen Titans: Robin, there is another story developing that continues out of that book.

While Teen Titans: Starfire is the fifth entry of the series, it was always first on Garcia’s mind. She shared that this book was pitched before the others in the series. So, Starfire was always going to get a book, it was just about timing as this contains a dual story that will eventually converge in the sixth, and final, entry. Speaking of, the series already consists of RavenBeast BoyBeast Boy & RavenRobin, and soon Starfire. With one more book left, Garcia is sure fans can figure out who will be next.

An Otherworldly Titan

Starfire’s real name is Koriand’r and she is a princess from the planet Tamaran. The character first appeared in a preview story in DC Comics Presents #26 in 1980. She is the creation of Marv Wolfman and George Perez who took inspiration from other characters, like Red Sonja, for the design. Starfire became a hit with readers as she teamed up with the Teen Titans to save the DC Universe. She has even expanded beyond the page to appear in television shows and even Fortnite. Now, Kami Garcia and Gabriel Picolo are bringing us a new facet of this character.

Teen Titans: Starfire will now release on 11/05.
