Tabu, Kareena Kapoor Khan and Kriti Sanon steal not just gold but hearts too

Crew Movie Review: A female-centric movie hasn’t been made for a while now, right? We bet there hasn’t been a heist movie as such, a Bollywood comedy movie featuring an all-female cast. We all have seen Bollywood making ensemble cast comedy movies that include both men and women wherein women don’t have much to do or are just arm candy. And here we have an all-female heist comedy which features three of the most talented actresses, Tabu, Kareena Kapoor Khan and Kriti Sanon in lead roles. The concept is quite fresh, but do we get what we are promised in the Crew Movie trailer? Read BollywoodLife Crew Movie below and find out…

About Crew movie

Crew is about three cabin crew members, Geeta Sethi, Jasmin Bajwa and Divya Rana from the Kohinoor Airlines. For many months, they have not received their salaries and are managing on their daily wages. The three of them are working as cabin crew members but they all aspire different things in life. Geeta (Tabu) and her partner Arun (Kapil Sharma) want to settle down in Goa and open their own restaurant. On the other hand, there is Jasmine (Kareena Kapoor Khan) who wants to open her own skincare line and have a flourishing business. However, she is running into deep debt. Moreover, her rent is due and her landlord keeps reminding her about the same. She lives with her grandfather who is quite old since her parents got a divorce. And then we have Divya Rana from Haryana who wishes to be a pilot. Her father takes a loan and enrols her in the best academy. But as fate warrants, there aren’t any jobs available for pilots and she takes up the job as cabin crew. She still lies to her family about being a pilot. Her loan amount is piling up.

Trouble comes knocking which mirrors an escape for them when one of the crew members, Rajvanshi passes away on a flight with gold bars strapped to his body. They learn about the smuggling business which is run by Manoj Mittal who is the HR head of Kohinoor Airlines. Fed up with their constant troubles, the trio decides to take an easy way out and get into the business of smuggling gold to the Gulf. However, trouble comes knocking when an anonymous tip busts the whole racket. Quick to learn their lessons, the Crew then takes a steep turn into a payback/revenge thriller wherein, Geeta, Jasmine and Divya bring down the rich who have been living off their money, making them suffer.

What’s hot?

Tabu, Kareena Kapoor Khan and Kriti Sanon – all three. Rarely there comes a movie wherein, you cannot decide where to look because all three ladies are stealing the show with their performances. Tabu as Geeta is hilarious and lovely. Kareena as Jasmin is just perfect. Jasmin is a quite layered character. Kriti Sanon as Divya delivers a very nuanced performance. The ladies are just brilliant with their emotional scenes. The comedy is good too and Tabu just steals the show. The movie is packed with great one-liners and punches. Diljit Dosanjh as Jaiveer is such a visual treat. Kapil Sharma as Tabu’s chef husband Arun has a perfect cameo. Their husband-wife equation will tug at your heartstrings. Kareena and Kulbhushan Kharbanda’s grandfather-granddaughter duo is quite adorable. Kriti Sanon and Diljit Dosanjh share stunning chemistry in the movie even though it is not much explored. Rajesh Sharma, Trupti Khamkar, Saswata Chatterjee and Pooja Bhamrrah make for a great supporting cast.

Talking about the equation between the trio, Crew explores the journey of the friendship of three strong but stuck-up ladies in a heartwarming manner. And boy, they all look so, so good in the movie. Their equation will make you want to meet up with your crew ASAP.

What’s Not?

The makers of Crew have put too much into the build-up. The first half seems dragged which in a way diminishes the excitement for second half. The movie keeps shifting between past and present and it gets confusing at times. Though the characters are affable, they are barely explored in depth. The potential they all hold is immense. The music honestly does nothing to keep you engaged. The comedy is not explored much given the heavy background of the characters. Rajesh Sharma and Saswata Chatterjee’s characters don’t add much value which seems like a waste of their potential.

Verdict:

Crew movie is fun and glamorously entertaining. Tabu, Kareena and Kriti don’t just steal gold but also hearts in this one. Take your crew along with you and watch this light-hearted heist comedy.
