The Bombay High Court has quashed the Central Bureau of Investigation’s (CBI) lookout circular (LOC) against Samuel Miranda, the former house help of late actor Sushant Singh Rajput.
Reportedly, The LOC was filed to bar Miranda from leaving the country during the legal proceedings. However, Miranda, in response, filed a plea to quash the LOC, citing potential plans for international travel, possibly for a vacation.
As per the latest report by India Today, the Bombay High Court bench of Justices Revati Mohite-Dere and Manjusha Deshpande argued that nothing was brought on record by CBI for the continuance of the LOC The bench admitted that as of now, the CBI has not submitted any report, such as a charge sheet or a closure report.It was acknowledged that the petitioner has participated in the investigation and has been cooperative throughout.
The High Court bench emphasized that the right to travel is a fundamental right. They noted that no concerns were raised regarding the petitioner evading arrest, being unavailable for trial, absconding, or any other legitimate reason in the Look Out Circular (LOC). Previously, the Bombay High Court also quashed Look Out Circulars issued against actress Rhea Chakraborty, her brother Showik and their father Lt Col. Indrajit Chakraborty in connection with the alleged drugs case which was filed after SSR’s death.
In March 2024, Sushant Singh Rajpur’s sister Shweta Singh Kirti issued a video statement and urged Prime Minister Narendra Modi to look into the CBI probe regarding her actor-brother’s death. She wrote, “Namastey. I am Shweta Singh Kirti. I am Sushant Singh Rajput’s sister. I am recording this message for our Prime Minister Modi ji. I wanted to bring to your attention that this is the 45th month of Bhai’s passing away and we still don’t know any updates on the investigation that is being conducted by the CBI. I would highly request your intervention into the matter because as a family and as a country, we are grappling with so many answered questions in this case,”.
