Voters are heading to the polls across 15 states for Super Tuesday, often seen as the pivotal day in the presidential primary season.
This year, however, President Biden and former President Trump have all but locked up their respective parties’ nominations, depriving the Tuesday elections of their usual suspense. Nikki Haley, who’s currently a long-shot challenger to Trump in the GOP primary, has so far failed to break through, though she is coming off her first victory in Washington, D.C.
According to polling averages from The Hill and Decision Desk HQ, Trump holds a national lead of 4 points over Biden when Robert F. Kennedy Jr., who’s running as an Independent, is also on the ballot.
States holding elections on Tuesday are Alabama, Alaska, Arkansas, California, Colorado, Maine, Massachusetts, Minnesota, North Carolina, Oklahoma, Tennessee, Texas, Utah, Vermont, Virginia and the U.S. territory of American Samoa.
