It’s one of the largest and most spectacular sands on the island and is bordered on all sides by huge sand dunes, making it feel peaceful and secluded.

The team at independent cruise agency Iglu Cruise said: “A highlight for those visiting the island, it’s clear to see why so many people fall in love with Luskentyre.

“From the beach, you can see Taransay Island ahead and enjoy some of the most spectacular views that Scotland has to offer.

“With walking and cycling trails nearby, many nature lovers flock to the beach every year.”

Dave Mills, Chief Commercial Officer at Iglu Cruise said there are many amazing beaches to be found along the British coastline.

He added: “The UK might not be known for its beaches, but there are many beautiful beaches and bays to be discovered.

“From well-loved sandy havens in Cornwall to hidden gems found deep within Wales, there are plenty of beaches to visit around the country this summer.”

The travel experts researched the highest-rated beaches in the UK, using Tripadvisor reviews to work out the top spots.

The team looked at 30 of Tripadvisor’s most popular beaches in the UK and discovered which had the highest percentage of excellent reviews.

Luskentyre was the only Scottish beach to make the cut but in second place was Rhossili Bay, at the western end of the Gower peninsula, a 40-minute drive from Swansea, Wales.

This beautiful beach is over three miles of stunning landscapes, meaning thousands of avid walkers head to the area each year for the breathtaking views.

Due to its size, the bay feels very spacious, especially in the busy summer months. Beautiful sunsets can also be witnessed as the beach faces west towards Ireland.
