Graphic India and Arka Mediaworks announced that their new animated series, Baahubali: Crown of Blood, has become the top show in Hindi on Disney+Hotstar as of May 20, 2024, surpassing all other live-action shows and films. Premiering on May 17, the first season of the series is a significant achievement for the Indian animation industry, being the first original 2D-animated show to reach the top of the streaming charts.
SS Rajamouli and Graphic India’s Baahubali: Crown of Blood tops Hindi shows on Disney+ Hotstar
Graphic India’s previous series, The Legend of Hanuman, also reached number one on the streaming charts for each of its three seasons, the most recent being in January 2024. This makes Graphic India a prominent animation producer in India, with two shows reaching the #1 ranking on Disney+Hotstar within the last five months.
Ormax Media, an independent media consulting and data analytics group, listed Baahubali: Crown of Blood among the top three Hindi shows or films in India for the past week across all streaming platforms. Ormax estimates the show received 3.3 million viewers in its first few days.
Baahubali: Crown of Blood was created by S.S. Rajamouli and Sharad Devarajan, and produced by Rajamouli, Devarajan, and Shobu Yarlagadda. The story was written by Devarajan and directed by Jeevan J. Kang and Navin John.
This new chapter in the Baahubali universe explores an untold story of adventure, brotherhood, betrayal, conflict, and heroism.
