Singer-actress Sophie Choudry has left an indelible mark in the entertainment industry with her phenomenal work. Renowned for her peppy songs such as Ek Pardesi, Aap Jaisa Koi, and Hungama Ho Gaya, the diva is also popular for her key to fitness. Once look at her Instagram handle, you will know how much she pays attention to her physique. Her workout videos continue to inspire fans daily. Sophie has been vocal about the importance of healthy living and emphasised on mental health. During lockdown, the actress admitted that she was going through a rough patch. She revealed how she handled those tough days and what that period was like for her.

Sophie Choudry on Her Mental Health Journey

In an exclusive interview with India.com, Sophie went way back and opened up about her battle with mental health, “During the second lockdown, COVID, I was badly affected. In terms of, I was seeing so much trauma around, you know what was happening around our country was truly traumatic and people were really suffering. And my work is an entertainer and that’s the first thing that completely shuts down.” The actress further added how the pandemic hit her professionally as well as mentally, “Sitting at home and not being able to work, somebody who is a workaholic, it was very difficult.”

Sophie Choudry on Seeking Help And Ways to Cope up

Sophie realised how seeking help at that moment changed her thought process. She said, “For the first time in my life, I realised that I needed help, and I got some help. And it changed my way of thinking, which shows that you are forever learning in your life. You never stop learning.” Choudry also revealed how being grateful and switching out negative thoughts changed her mindset as she felt, “Being an overthinker perfectionist wasn’t easy for me to be like that.”

Sophie feels that now times are changing where people are openly talking about mental health, something that wasn’t prevalent when she began her career. She said, “Mental health is something we all need to address. All of us need to take some time out to rest, relax and refocus. It’s not a waste of time. And I am so happy that people are talking about it, trust me, no one used to do that earlier.” Sophie expressed gratitude towards her mother for being with her during those tough times. “My mom is my best friend and biggest support system, and I am happy to lean on her during that period.”  She also advised to always rely on oneself first, despite putting pressure on others, “People are there to support you but the work has to be done by yourself.”

Meanwhile, on the professional front, Sophie Choudary released her latest music video Lips with iconic lyrics, “Hothon Pe Aisi Baat…” Directed by Ajay and Lovel, the enchanting music of the track Lips is composed by Raahi and lyrics are penned by Ardaas. Sophie revealed that being an adaption of the old song, it was quite challenging to retain the identity of the new song. However, with the help of the team, the song emerged as a wonderful track and is being appreciated worldwide.
