British actor Dev Patel’s directorial debut Monkey Man premiered in Singapore last week. Those who managed to catch the film may have noticed a familiar face in the cast.
Local actor Mathi Alagan, whom many Singaporeans will remember as Bhaskar Ram in Mediacorp long-form drama Tanglin (2015), or Sanjay Devaraj in Code Of Law (2012), plays a guns dealer in the India-set action-thriller.
Mathi is also known for his appearances in Tamil dramas, and in the 2018 Malaysian film Villavan: The Vigilante.
On Sunday (Apr 7), Mathi took to Instagram to share his scene in the movie.
“Grateful beyond words for the incredible opportunity to be a part of Monkey Man helmed by a true legend in the industry. Working alongside Dev Patel has been an absolute honour and a masterclass in itself,” wrote Mathi.
Mathi also expressed his joy at being part of the production, and thanked Patel for trusting him in the role.
