SHELTON — A 58-year-old Ansonia man was charged Friday after police said he stalked a 33-year-old woman from Shelton.
According to police, Alexander Tamdemir sent a five-page letter to the woman professing his love and admiration for her. The letter mentioned the woman by name and how he drove by her house, waiting for her boyfriend’s vehicle to leave
The woman said flowers also had been sent to her home in the past and she believed they were from the same person, Detective Richard Bango said in a news release.

The woman told police that a man by the name of “Alex” made several attempts to connect with her on social media. She would block the requests, but “Alex” created another account and sent additional requests, according to Bango.
The woman filed a complaint with police Friday and, through an investigation, police determined Tamdemir sent the flowers, wrote the letter and had tried to connect on social media, Bango said.
Police also confirmed Tamdemir knew where the women lived and drove by her house several times, according to Bango.
Police discovered that Tamdemir and the woman went to the same gym, and this was where he would see her on a regular basis, Bango said.
