Superintendent of Police of West Bengal’s Basirhat region Hossain Mehedi Rehman on February 17 briefed on the Sandeshkhali violence to the press. He said that currently, the region was under control and the police are continuously working with impartiality. “A disturbance occurred in Sandeshkhali. A poultry farm was set on fire there and several cases were registered by the police. Police have already arrested 17 people after investigation. In this incident, a team of 10 of us is going door to door collecting complaints. Now Sandeshkhali is under our control. No untoward incident occurred in the last 7 days. In one of these cases, sexual harassment was alleged. Police are adding specific section in that case. Police are working with impartiality. Anyone who has complaints can report it to the police station or our special team without fear,” said Hossain Mehedi Rehman.
