Samsung Galaxy S21 series Android 14-based One UI 6 starts rolling out: features, how to download

How to download One UI 6 on the Samsung Galaxy S21 series

Starting December 21st, the S21 series users in India have started getting the One UI 6 OTA update. The firmware build ends with FWL3 and is coupled with a December 2023 security update.

The Galaxy S21 series was launched in January 2021 with a promise of 4 OS upgrades. As per this, the phones are eligible to get the Android 15 update too.

Anyway, with that out of the way, let’s just get into downloading One UI. Ensure your device is backed up before you flash the new update. Also, make sure the device has sufficient charge and a stable Wi-Fi/mobile data connection.

Once those prerequisites are met, follow these steps:

  • Step 1: Go to the phone’s Settings
  • Step 2: Tap on Software Update
  • Step 3: Tap on Download and Install

It will take some time to download and install the update. The device may even reboot in the process. Once it is done, you will see that “Your device has been upgraded to One UI 6”.

Best One UI 6 features

  • Access the Quick Settings section directly by swiping down from the top right corner.
  • You can change the aspect ratio of images from the camera app regardless of the megapixel mode you have selected.
  • Samsung One UI emojis have got a facelift.
  • The new Auto Blocker setting within Privacy and Security Settings restricts the installation of apps from unknown sources, thereby blocking malware, malicious links and USB commands.
  • The Gallery app now consists of Studio, a simple movie maker/editor feature.
  • Seamless copy and paste between different Samsung devices as long as they are all signed in with the same Samsung account.
  • Several other app updates (like Galaxy Wearable, Samsung Internet, Samsung Health, Samsung Wallet, etc) and new gestures are also part of the One UI 6 rollout.
