YAMUNANAGAR: Crime investigation agency (CIA)-II of Yamunanagar police recovered Rs 25 lakh in cash from a person being carried in a car in Yamunanagar on Friday night.
The police were conducting checking of vehicles in view of the model code of conduct in force, when the cash was recovered from a car.
CIA-II in-charge Anesh Malhan said that during checking of the car, they saw a liquor carton, but it did not contain any liquor but huge cash.
“Cash was recovered in the presence of duty magistrate naib tehsildar of Jagadhri Amit Kumar. The officers of income tax and other concerned departments were also informed about the recovery of cash following model code of conduct rules”, said Anesh.
He added that the man from whom the cash was recovered told us that they do liquor business and cash is from the sale of liquor.
“The person said that he was taking cash to his house and it was to be deposited in the bank. The cash was deposited in the treasury on Saturday and the owner of the cash was asked to prove his claim,” said CIA-II in-charge Anesh Malhan.
