Ronald Koeman says it was ‘unbelievable’ Scotland didn’t score as Andy Robertson admits standards have dropped

RONALD KOEMAN admits he can’t believe his team got away with a clean sheet against Scotland.

The Dutch coach watched his Euro title hopefuls being outplayed for long spells in the Johan Cruyff Arena before a late goal spree.

And he said: “For an hour, the Scottish team was the better team and created more chances.

“It was unbelievable that they didn’t score because they had some really good chances.

“We knew Scotland would fight. They also have good players, like John McGinn.

“So it was comfortable in the end, but not before then.

“Maybe they were a little bit tired in the last 10 or 15 minutes.

“We got more space and we know we can create chances and score goals when that happens.”

Meanwhile, Andy Robertson has ordered his Scotland team mates to sharpen up in BOTH boxes as they crashed to defeat in the Netherlands.

The Scots missed huge chances in the Johan Cruyff Arena before collapsing at the back in the last 20 minutes.

Steve Clarke’s side are now six without a win after the Euro 2024 preparations took another dunt against the Dutch.

And the captain has told his teammates to shake off the pain and prove they can make an impact in Germany.

Scottish football really doesn’t suit me, I’ve not got too many good memories of playing there, says one-time wonderkid

Robertson said: “I’m feeling anger and disappointment.

“We can’t come away to these big teams and play the way we did.

“We have completely opened up at the end. The fact we’ve walked off 4-0 is unbelievable.

“It’s impossible for it to happen. We need to have a look at it.

“We can’t keep doing this. In the last couple of games, we’ve shipped quite a lot of goals.

“People looking at that result will think it was one-sided. We need to take a look at it and sort it out.

“At this level, it’s all about putting the ball in the back of the net. Lads can miss chances.

“What we can’t do is open up the way we did. That’s a collective thing.

“We opened up too much and ended up walking off at 4-0.

“We have to be clinical and we have to keep them out at the back door.

“We don’t want to be a team which just qualifies for tournaments. We want to compete.

“In the last six games, we’ve dropped our standards. It could have been 6-0 at the end. We need to get back to winning ways.”
