Rhulani Mokwena to have a say in next Kaizer Chiefs coach?

Kaizer Chiefs will be keeping a close eye on the crunch negotiations between Manqoba Mngqithi and Mamelodi Sundowns.

The Mamelodi Sundowns senior coach has been linked with a sensational move to Chiefs during recent weeks.

Manqoba Mngqithi was reportedly at the top of Chief’s wishlist of Cavin Johnson replacements. Johnson is expected to return to his role as head of Academy at Naturena at the end of the season.

Now, it has been confirmed that Manqoba Mngqithi is currently deadlocked in contract extension negotiations with Masandawana.

Does Rhulani Mokwena however still want Mngqithi to remain part of his technical team? It indeed remains to be seen.

“Manqoba is happy at the club, we have said this all along and now it depends on us coming to an agreement with the club to extend his contract,” agent Mike Makaab told Gagasi FM regarding the Kaizer Chiefs linked coach.

“It’s still early days as far as the negotiations are concerned. But I am hoping that within the next 7 to 14 days, so within the next couple of weeks, we will have more clarity on Manqoba’s future.”

We can go all the way! – Mokwena

In other news Mamelodi Sundowns head coach Rhulani Mokwena believes his side can go all the way in the CAF Champions League this year.

The Brazilians are looking to use their Africa Football League success to drive them in the Champions League.

Mokwena’s side booked their spot in the last eight after defeating TP Mazembe 1-0 on Saturday, to finish top of their group.

“I think if we still have to send the message to doubters there is something wrong,” Mamelodi Sundowns coach Rhulani Mokwena said as quoted by Sowetan.

“For the last six years we have been in the quarterfinals, last season we were in the semifinal for the first time in four or five occasions. And we want to be that team that is always there. It is not good enough to think that you can win a continental trophy without a big stamp on the continent.

“They are there every single season in the quarterfinals and semifinals. Eventually, Mamelodi Sundowns can break the dominance of the North African sides in the competition and we will win the Champions League.”
