Rangers strike new deal with Sky Sports as club set for revenue boost and special TV access from switch up

RANGERS have struck a deal with Sky Sports which will allow extra TV access at Ibrox this season.

The exclusive broadcasters are currently limited to visit each stadium in the Scottish Premiership just four times due to their contractual agreement with the SPFL.

However, it’s being claimed that Sky will be granted access to Ibrox for an additional game this season in an innovative move by both parties.

That’s according to the Rangers Review – who claim one more game will be shown live on TV from the Govan stadium before the end of the campaign.

The report also suggests that the club will now be allowed to choose two more games which can be streamed live on Rangers TV through pay-per-view as well.

The new development is considered a win-win for both the club and exclusive broadcasters.

Sky have already screened one game at Ibrox this season with another two scheduled in the pipeline.

The first Old Firm derby of the campaign back in September was selected, while Celtic’s return to Ibrox in April has also been chosen.

Aberdeen’s trip to Glasgow on February 6 left Sky with just one more slot to choose from, but now the broadcasters are less restricted and have two more to pick.

That’s after the club reached an agreement with the TV company, following successful pitches from Ibrox chief executive James Bisgrove and commercial director Karim Virani.

Rangers are now set for further revenue this season after striking the deal with the broadcasters.

Sky’s current £30m-a-season deal allows clubs in the top flight to stream five games on PPV but Rangers have been granted special coverage due to the agreement and will be allowed to stream a further two matches worldwide on the club’s official channel.
