Randeep Hooda made his directorial debut with the film Swatantrya Veer Savarkar. The actor once again proved his mettle and put in every bead of sweat and blood in his work. His close friend and co-actor in this historic drama, Jay Patel, got in an exclusive conversation with India.com and talked about how Randeep dexterously worked for the film. Patel, a producer himself, also opened up about how important is the Box Office collection for producers and directors and what Randeep Hooda had to put at stake for weaving a story like this.
Jay Patel is an Indian actor who was brought up in New York. He also produced the short film ‘I am Gonna Tell God Everything’ which mustered global appreciation. Born in Gujarat, he had a connection with Indian freedom fighter Shyamaji Krishna Verma. One call from Randeep, hours of discussion and knowledge exchange, changed a lot for Patel.

A producer himself, when asked about the importance of the box office success of a film, he said, “It is super important. Money life ka hissa hogya hai, actor or production walon ka bhi yahi hai ki agar financial vaible nahi hogi to next level tak jaigi nahi. And here I would really want to appreciate Randeep ki yeh movie ke liye uske papa ne uska pura ghar girvi rakha hai. Or sab dost logo bhi uske sath khade hai. Randeep ne bhi give-up nahi kiya movie ke liye he lost so much weight. Yeh bahut hi bada example hai Indian film industry ke liye. Ye movie salon tak chalne wali hai.” (sic)
Lauding the hard work of the actor, Patel added, “Randeep ne itni detailing mai kaam kiya hai iss movie ke liye ki agar yahi chiz woh kisi or ke liye karta to h use Rss 100 crore ka cheque milta mai guarantee data hun. Itna micro kaam kiya hai.”

Swatantrya Veer Savarkar is a historical period drama that chronicles the lives and stories of Indian freedom fighters. While it has garnered much appreciation in terms of performance, there have been allegations on the film distorting history and being polarised. We asked if they were prepared for facing such controversies and to this Jay said affirmingly, “Jaise senapati hota hai, woh soldier ko worry nhi karne deta. Waise hi Randeep ne sab kuch apne sir pe liya hai. agr kisi bhi bande ko koi bhi question ho toh uska humare paas written ma answer hai. Yeh bahut badhi responsibility thi. Randeep ne itna homework kiya hai ki sab written mai hai. Ab film dekhne ke baad kisi ko question hai toh woh ajaye Randeep ke ghar pe. Uske paas sab questions ka answer hai.”
Swatantry Veer Savarkar hit the theatres on March 22.
