QuickCheck: Did a chase in Klang result in the arrest of a foreigner for drug possession?

A viral video shows the police chasing and successfully apprehending a suspect who tried to escape a motorcycle inspection during a routine patrol.

It was said that the suspect was spotted at Jalan Batu Belah, Klang, but was arrested at Jalan Kapar Klang after he sped away with drugs in his possession.

According to the North Klang OCPD Asst Comm S. Vijaya Rao, the incident happened at 10:45am on Wednesday (May 15) while the Bandar Baru Klang crime prevention patrol team patrolling Jalan Batu Belah.

“The officers tried to stop the motorcycle ridden by a man for inspection, but he tried to escape,” he said in a statement on Wednesday, adding that the suspect was successfully nabbed at Jalan Kapar.

He said Bandar Baru Klang OCPD was also present at the scene.

Initial investigations revealed that the 28-year-old suspect was a foreigner and had 609g of ketum leaves, 14 100ml bottles of cough medicine, 29 nitrazepam pills, and six red pills suspected to be horse pills reported Sinar Harian.

The case is classified under Section 30(3) of the Poison Act 1952 and Section 12(2) of the Dangerous Drugs Act 1952.

“The police are urging anyone who has information related to the case to come forward or contact any nearby police station,” said ACP Vijaya.
