In a conversation with Mashable India, it was revealed that there is an acknowledgment of the privilege that comes with being part of a film family.

Dulquer and Prithviraj Consider Themselves ‘Nepo Kids’

The statement mentioned that Dulquer Salmaan, is considered a “nepo kid,” indicating that they have had certain advantages and opportunities that may not be equally available to others in the industry. He acknowledged the privilege he had in entering the industry, stating that he got his first film solely due to his surname, without even having to go through a screen test.

However, Prithviraj also expressed his belief that once in the film industry, everyone has to prove themselves regardless of their background. He admitted that his surname helped him secure his first film, but emphasised that talent and merit are crucial for sustained success in the industry. He recognised that despite his initial advantage, others were more talented and deserving of opportunities. He emphasized the importance of talent and the need to consistently deliver quality work in order to succeed in the competitive environment of the film industry.

Prithviraj is a well-known actor in the Malayalam film industry, and he comes from a family with a strong acting background. He is the son of actors Sukumaran and Mallika, and his elder brother Indrajit, along with his sister-in-law Poornima, are also actors. In a humorous note, Prithviraj mentioned in an interview that his wife, Supriya Menon, humorously refers to herself as the ‘black sheep of the family’ because she is not an actor.

Prithviraj’s recent film “Aadujeevitham” has been performing well at the box office, and it was released as “The Goat Life” in other languages. Additionally, he is set to play the antagonist in the upcoming Hindi film “Bade Miyan Chote Miyan”. He is also currently working on projects like “Guruvayoor Ambalanadayil” and “Vilayath Buddha”, and he is directing “L2: Empuraan” with Mohanlal. On the other hand, Dulquer is the youngest son of the legendary actor Mammootty. He was last seen in the 2023 film “King of Kotha” and is gearing up to star in the Telugu film “Lucky Bhaskar” soon.
