Princess Kate has healthy breakfast option on Christmas Day – unlike Prince William | Royal | News

Princess Kate is known for leading a healthy and balanced lifestyle and is keen on fulfilling nutritious food. The Princess of Wales likes to keep up with her fitness even during Christmas Day as she prefers a simple breakfast.

But her husband, Prince William, opts for a more extravagant feast, a former royal chef has claimed. The future Queen is said to like a light breakfast of fruit and toast instead of a classic fry-up or luxurious smoked salmon and eggs.

Former Royal chef Darren McGrady has previously revealed that on Christmas morning in Sandringham there are two separate breakfasts prepared for men and women.

He said the ladies prefer a light breakfast of “sliced fruit, half a grapefruit, toast and coffee delivered to their rooms” while the men enjoy a proper English including eggs, bacon, mushrooms, kippers and grilled kidneys.

But even though the Royal Family have access to some of the best chefs and culinary opportunities in the world, their Christmas meal is very normal.

McGrady told the Mail: “It was the same meal every year. They’re actually boring when it comes to festivities. They didn’t do hams or anything, just traditional turkeys.”

“We did three turkeys for the Queen and her family in the royal dining room, one for the children’s nursery and then more for the 100 or so staff, so everyone had a Christmas lunch.”

The former royal chef added: “The turkey is served with mashed and roast potatoes, chestnut or sage and onion stuffing, cranberry sauce and bread sauce. Vegetables include brussels sprouts, carrots and roast parsnips.”

For dessert, the Royal Family opt for a Christmas pudding. McGrady said it’s “decorated in holly, doused in brandy, and the palace steward would carry it, flaming, into the royal dining room.”
