Pretty French Riviera village has Mediterranean views with no tourists | Travel News | Travel

The travel blog All Things French has shared an often overlooked village on the Riviera that offers beautiful surroundings and a fascinating history.

Located between Monte Carlo and Nice, Èze is a small seaside commune in France that is built on a 427-metre-high cliff, giving tourists an excellent view of the Mediterranean.

Louise Scott, the creator of the blog All Things French, noted that there are plenty of stunning views in Èze, making it a good choice for tourists planning on capturing memories with their camera.

She explained: “The first time I visited Èze, I arrived on the bus from Villefranche, having been treated to exceptional views from the magnificent coastline of the Côte d’Azur as the Moyenne Corniche winds around the rocky outcrops above St Jean Cap Ferrat, Beaulieu sûr Mer, and Eze sûr Mer.

“The Côte d’Azur unfolds below like a canvas, inviting you to savour every moment. Whether you’re an avid photographer or just a romantic at heart, Eze’s panoramic vistas promise an unforgettable experience.”

Whilst the spectacular view towards the sea is arguably the biggest reason why people visit Èze, All Things French also noted that the village offers incredible architecture.

With many of the buildings in the village featuring elegant stonework, brightly-coloured shutters and carvings, making visitors feel as if they have stepped back in time.

In addition, cars and vans are unable to enter the narrow, cobbled streets of the village, making them incredibly walkable.

However, tourists looking for a little bit of green space in the midst of the narrow streets were advised to take a trip to Le Jardin Exotique, or ‘The Exotic Garden’.

Located towards the edge of Èze’s cliffs, Le Jardin Exotique features a number of types of flowers from around the world, in addition to local plants.

At the top of the garden, tourists can also see the ruins of a chateau from the 12th century which adds to the historical feel that Èze has.

Finally, All Things French suggested that visitors to Èze should also consider going to the traditional market that takes place in the village each Sunday morning.

Whilst the narrow streets mean there are only around 20 stalls, it is incredibly easy to find fresh produce and local types of cheese and bread.

There is also a nearby coastal market, which takes place on Fridays, offering handmade crafts that could make good souvenirs.
