The makers of the Malayalam smash hit ‘Premalu’ have formally announced the sequel. ‘Premalu 2’ is set to release in theaters in 2025.

Malayalam romantic-comedy Premalu turned out to be a massive hit. The film which was made on a budget of Rs 3 crore, grossed over Rs. 95 crore in India, with a further 40 crore overseas, for a worldwide total of Rs. 135 crore. After a successful hit, the director of the film Girish AD has officially announced the sequel of the film. Premalu featured Naslen K Gafoor and Mamitha Baiju in lead roles and even the sequel will star the return of the lead actors in their respective roles. ‘Premalu 2’ will be released in 2025.

Taking to X the makers of ‘Premalu‘ shared the exciting news. The production, Bhavana Studios, captioned the post, “The Biggest RomCom blockbuster ever in Malayalam Cinema will be back in 2025! Let’s Premalu2 (sic)” Along with the note, the creators also shared the official poster of the upcoming film.

In the meantime, over on X, Karthikeya, son of SS Rajamouli, declared his return as the presenter for the Telugu rendition. He expressed gratitude and wrote, “#Premalu was such a beautiful chapter in my life. I’m truly grateful to my Telugu audience for making it unforgettable. Big thanks to @BhavanaStudios for all the support and love. Excited and humbled to present #Premalu2 in Telugu, with even more love (sic).”

The movie is helmed by Girish AD, written by him and co-written by Kiran Josey. Naslen K Gafoor and Mamitha Baija starred in the lead roles in the movie. Apart from these two, the movie also features Sangeeth Prathap, Shyam Mohan, Meenakshi Raveendran, Akhila Bhargavan and Althaf Salim in supporting roles. It should be noted that Premalu is one of the highest-grossing films in the Malayalam film industry.
