BRIDGEPORT — Police are investigating the shooting of a person in the leg and hand on Wheeler Avenue on Wednesday evening.
Around 8:20 p.m., the city’s Emergency Communications Center received a call from a person who reported he’d been shot in the 100 block of the Avenue, according to Scott Appleby, Bridgeport’s director of emergency management.
Arriving officers confirmed the victim sustained gunshot wounds to his right leg and left hand, Appleby said. Police applied a tourniquet while awaiting paramedics, he said.
