Officers were called to the scene after receiving reports of the fatal smash, just south of Burnmouth, at around 9.15am.

The crash involved a grey Vauxhall Viva and a white MAN articulated lorry.

The driver of the car, an 80-year-old woman, was found injured at the scene.

Paramedics fought to save her but she was tragically pronounced dead at the scene.

The person driving the lorry was uninjured.

The road was closed for over five hours to allow collision investigators to conduct enquiries at the scene.

Police later re-opened the road at around 2.45pm yesterday afternoon.

Officers have confirmed that enquiries into the incident are ongoing and they are appealing for anyone with information about the crash to come forward.

They are urging anyone who may have seen something, or anyone who may know something, to speak with cops.

They are particularly keen to speak with anyone who may have dashcam footage of the area from the time of the crash.

Sergeant Colin Morrison told PA News: “Our thoughts are with the family of the woman who died at this time.

“Our inquiries are continuing to establish the full circumstances and we are asking anyone who was in the area at the time and has information that could assist to get in touch.

“In particular, if you have dash-cam footage that could assist with our investigation then please contact officers.

“Anyone with information is asked to call Police Scotland on 101, quoting incident number 1124 of Saturday, December 16, 2023.”
