Paradise glamping: The incredible Maldives ‘beach bubble tent’ that offers couples the chance to sleep under the stars (without being bitten by mosquitoes)

Sunseekers, prepare to bubble over with excitement.

A resort in the Maldives offers holidaymakers looking for a stay with a difference the chance to spend a night in a see-through ‘beach bubble tent’.

The eye-catching accommodation can be found at Seaside Finolhu Baa Atoll Maldives and comprises a cluster of orbs, two of which are transparent.

The bubble tent is ‘dramatically located in a secluded spot along [a] marvellous sandbank’, the resort says, with guests offered an ‘incredibly romantic experience under the stars’. Without the irritation of mosquito bites.

It’s a ‘unique’ beachside glamping experience like no other, according to the resort.

The transparent spheres have ‘custom-fitted wooden floors and bespoke furnishings, and a separate adjoining bubble living room and bathroom with WC and shower’ for a ‘high-spec’ experience.

Not only will those staying in the bubble enjoy ‘unforgettable’ views of the sky and ocean, but each bubble reservation – which lasts from sunset to sunrise (or 7pm to 9am) – also comes with a private beach BBQ and breakfast at the edge of the water.

The Finolhu website says: ‘Awake or asleep – here you’ll experience a feeling of infinity. Above you the cosmos and the blackness of the sky, through which the Milky Way shines like a work of art.’

It continues: ‘A short sunset stroll takes the couple to the unique beach bubble hideaway where they can enjoy a lovely beach BBQ with a Maldivian twist, and then retreat into their private bubble for an unforgettable night under the stars.

‘On waking from this dreamlike experience, the couple can watch the beautiful sunrise as they linger over breakfast at the water’s edge.

‘Conceived and custom-designed by leading Spanish design firm Eye In the Sky, the transparent inflatable bubble is a unique, inspiring environment where guests can enjoy an incredible, closer-to-nature experience – without compromising on high-spec design and luxurious comforts.’

The rest of the Finolhu resort has much to offer, too.

Its location, Baa Atoll, is one of 26 natural atolls in the Indian Ocean. Finolhu says: ‘It has been declared a biosphere reserve by Unesco and the climate guarantees an average air temperature of 29 degrees Celsius and water temperatures of 24 degrees Celsius’.

The atoll boasts reefs, submerged cliffs and ‘thilas’- or underwater hills. This means that marine life has flourished with around 1,200 reef species making their home on Baa – and snorkelling and scuba diving are on offer to holidaymakers.

Turtles, dolphins, manta rays and whale sharks make their home in the surrounding waters.

The resort offers several eateries – from a beachside breakfast spot to a sushi bar, and from an Arabian grill to a crab shack, beach club and ‘Milk Lab’, which offers protein shakes and juice. Guests can also order the Instagram-famous floating breakfast.

The atoll’s spa lets guests relax with massages, hydrotherapy and beauty treatments. A gym, tennis court and golf studio ensure holidaymakers can work up a sweat, while a kids’ club means parents can take some time off.

Excursions include fishing trips, an educational adventure with the resident marine biologist and visits to a local village.

Guests can book villas on the beach, some with private pools, overwater villas and even a ‘rockstar villa’ that includes a sitting room, outdoor patio, a large swimming pool, steps down to the ocean and a personal host.

Holidaymakers must have a confirmed minimum stay of at least three nights at Seaside Finolhu to book the beach bubble experience – with a stay priced from £572.45 per night for a lagoon villa.
