A MARRIED police inspector left his radio and bedded a female colleague while he was on duty, a hearing was told.
Inspector Darren Lane later told the woman: “That’s the baddest thing I’ve ever done xx”.
The married dad is accused of going round to his colleague’s home twice to have sex while he was on duty.
Inspector Lane, a senior officer in the Sussex Police’s Missing Persons Team, also allegedly sent her explicit pictures and videos.
A disciplinary panel hearing was told he first met the woman, who can’t be named, in 2018.
At the time, he was working for Missing Persons Team and she was working directly with the police in the same office.
The pair became friends but their relationship became “flirtatious” in 2020 and they began exchanging messages, the panel heard.
They allegedly began hooking up the following year as Inspector Lane sent X-rated photos of his privates.
He also shared a video of himself performing a sex act, the hearing in Lewes was told.
On April 11, 2021, Inspector Lane went round to the woman’s house and left his police radio connected while they had sex, it is alleged.
The cop claims he only went to the house to connect to the Wi-Fi at the property.
But the woman told the panel they had sex for almost the entire time Inspector Lane was there.
Robert Talalay, lawyer for Sussex Police, asked: “How long were you engaged in sexual activity?”
She replied: “Probably most of the time he spent at my address. I recall the comment that he was on duty at the time. It was anywhere between half an hour and an hour.”
The couple exchanged messages afterwards – including one sent by the woman that read: “Busted“.
She later told him “f**k I miss you”, before he later replied: “Beautiful. I could kiss you all day and night.”
The panel heard Inspector Lane returned to the home on June 4 – again while on duty – and spent six hours in bed with the woman.
She told the hearing: “It’s really clear in my head as it was the night before my birthday.
“He had his radio on on my bedside table, listening to the radio while we were engaged in sexual activity. We were having full sex.
“He did not turn it off. It was turned down very, very low. I couldn’t hear clearly what was going on.”
During his own evidence, the cop claimed the affair began as his marriage was “not great” at the time.
But he denied bedding her in April – instead saying it was Star Wars Day, May the 4th.
The hearing was told the woman wanted the officer to leave his wife, who also worked for the police, but when he failed to do so, she told her about the affair.
Inspector Lane said: “I’ve never had sex on duty or any sexual contact on duty.
“My job means everything to me part from my family, as ridiculous as that sounds given I had an affair.

“My job has been my constant for the last 23 years. I have been naive in working from that address. I would never jeopardise my employment with Sussex Police.”
